I just ran out of my Meguiar’s Gold Car Wash&Wax so I am looking to get some new stuff. That soap worked pretty well and I was always happy with it but I am just curious what else I can get affordably. The Ultimate series wash&wax seems to be a solid choice but I wouldn’t mind spending a little more for something nicer. I also plan to get a second bucket and commit to the two-bucket wash method. Right now my paint could use quite a bit of repair but at least I would like to keep some of it looking nice.

I switched to this recently from my Griot’s, which has been my mainstay car wash for several years. This is very very good.

If I have to buy it off the shelf I always go with Meguiar’s products. Otherwise I have been on Griot’s garage suds for the longest but. I just bought a gallon of Chemical Guys “Citrus Wash&Gloss”, which is really nice. You have to be conservative with it however, or you will triple your time with the hose.

I go back and forth with Griot’s and the same Chemical Guys wash. I think I like the Chemical Guys wash just a bit better, but I used too much once and it was the longest rinse of my life, couldn’t wash it off my hands either.

I’ve used in recent years Meguiar’s , Turtle Wax Nano, 3M and Zymol. I have a half gallon of Turtle Wax to finish off and I’m not happy with it, going back to Zymol which for dark cars seems better. If I didn’t chamois every single drop off my car of the Turtle Wax I’d see spots. It seems difficult to get rinsed off well. I have Mequiar’s in a detail kit for travel, it seems fine too but I love the smell of the Zymol and how the paint looks even if you haven’t waxed recently.

I would consider upgrading your wash kit, as well, whilst you are at it. Add in a grit guard and wash board:

You might need to order their bucket, but I can tell you this has saved me from a great many swirl marks.

I plan to get two of the Home Depot homer buckets and the Chemical guys grit guard. Seems like the best solution. Thinking the Chemical Guys Citrus wash too. Only thing left is probably a better wash mitt. I still love the Meguiar's Gold Caranuba wax to go on top but I may look into something nicer because why not.

This is what I would use on my motorcycle. Its more of a
polish than a soap. I would just spray some on the bike, let it sit for about 10 minutes and whip it off. It works great!

I have a big jug of Meguiar’s Deep Crystal and it’s going to take me forever to finish it.
I don’t get super fancy with my car washing chemicals, it’s mostly random stuff from Walmart or O’Reilly. Although now that I think about it, I have car wash soap, wheel cleaner, wheel protectant, quick detail, spray wax, glass cleaner, tire shine, leather cleaner, and interior cleaner.
¯\_()_/¯
I have a couple of these car wash sponges with some kind of soft cloth cover over the sponge on one side, and a brush on the other:
My basic routine is to hit the wheels with wheel cleaner, rinse the whole car, suds it up with the spongey brushy things, rinse it off, clean the remaining crud off the wheels with an old rag, one last rinse, get as much water as I can with my synthetic chamois, then finish drying with a microfiber towel.
Then I spray it with quick detail, and spray wax if I’m feeling fancy, and shine up the tires.
Holy crap, I am an obsessive. How did this happen?

Oh man, for that front my current absolute favorite is the Griot’s Poly Wax:
https://www.amazon.com/Griots-Garage-…
It’s ridiculously easy to work with, sun or shade, goes on nice, comes off nice, has great shine, and lasting staying power. Here’s an example of two coats over a freshly washed and nano-skinned Genesis:

That’s the reflection in the door of my car after the wax was applied.

This will leave the wax in place correct? I used a similar product to that at the top.

Like all washes, it’ll take a little off each wash, but no more than any other wash.

good to know. After I finish off my bottle of wash and wax I will have to give it a try.
